Turkey’s largest BOPP producer trusts in Brückner Servtec for a comprehensive upgrade of its BOPP 4 line.
Polinas Plastik Sanayii ve Ticaret A.Ş., Manisa, Turkey, one of the leading manufacturers in the flexible packaging industry, set a tight time schedule for a complete upgrading package:
Modification from 4- to 5-layer extrusion,
State-of-the-art air knife installation and
New thickness gauge and profile control.
The target was to limit the line shutdown to a maximum of two weeks. In order to meet this challenging deadline, Polinas perfectly carried out the pre-assembling of the fourth co-extruder and the additionally supplied components according to Brückner drawings, without disrupting the running production. With the line shutdown Brückner Servtec was then responsible for the installation of the melt pipe, the die, the air knife and the thickness gauge.
Under such conditions Brückner’s integrated control system design proves again to yield many advantages. Extrusion, die and thickness control run on one single integrated system. This allows for a complete system set-up and test before the actual installation, which in turn shortens time and man-power required on site for the start-up.
Polinas’s supervisors showed excellent technical know-how and were able to communicate in English on a high level. Communication and cooperation between both sides project teams was excellent and upcoming difficulties were successfully managed efficiently before they could even turn into real problems.
As expected, Polinas and Brückner Servtec met the requirements and after two weeks of installation and intensive check-up, the line was ready for film production again. Mr. Ferit Gencer, Mechanical Maintenance Chief at Polinas, says: “It was important for us, to minimise the shutdown time of the line, even though we knew from the beginning that it would be a difficult job. But with Brückner at our side, we had the right partner and everything went very well.
