Unlock the potential
of existing lines
The plastics and film industry faces major challenges: resource conservation, the circular economy and CO2 reduction are more than just trends – they are crucial for long-term success. At the same time, tremendous opportunities arise for companies. Our smart upgrades existing production lines fit for new applications – whether for packaging, technical films or special applications.
Our portfolio includes solutions for adapting energy and process parameters, processing selected mono-materials, and expanding the application possibilities of existing production lines. The technical feasibility depends on the material, product structure, and line configuration.
A selection from our wide range of solutions
Targeted use of resources
Potential of TDO Heat Recovery
The oven exhaust air contains thermal energy that can be reused by means of a heat recovery system. Analyses conducted on an 8.7-metre-wide BOPP line indicate a recovery potential of up to 54% of the thermal energy. The actual achievable potential depends on the line configuration and operating conditions.

Twin-screw technology
For suitable materials, twin-screw extrusion eliminates the need for separate pre-drying and crystallization, along with the associated processing steps and energy consumption. The actual energy demand depends on the material, line configuration, and operating conditions.

5-layer technology
5-layer technology allows different material and functional layers to be combined, for example in ultra-high-barrier (UHB) applications. Depending on the materials used, the layer structure, and the technical configuration, the technology can also be used to produce mono-material films. Recyclability must be assessed based on the specific film structure and the applicable testing and evaluation criteria.

Adding functionality directly during production
The Inline Coater enables defined functional coatings to be applied directly within the film stretching line. Depending on the material, coating and layer structure, this allows functional mono-material films based on BOPP or BOPET to be produced.
As the coating layers can be applied very thinly, the use of additional materials can be reduced. This can result in film structures that are compatible with existing mechanical recycling processes. The recyclability of each film structure must be assessed in accordance with the applicable testing and evaluation criteria.
